Jessica and Dave chose to get married in a very intimate setting at Hyalite Reservoir. Everything about their day had a touch of homemade sweetness, simplicity and love.

 When it was time for the ceremony to begin, guests stood around a teepee, which was handcrafted by Borealis Construction as the ceremony piece. In an effort to keep the day intimate and unique, guests stood all around the couple for the ceremony rather than seated in rows. Jess and Dave’s daughter and nephew were the flower girl and ring bearer. Two of Jess and Dave’s best friends, twins, wrote and ordained the ceremony, which was mostly Buddhist.

In talking about the ceremony, Jess told me, “It was really important to us that we didn’t just follow normal tradition. We wanted to create new rituals and meaning through our ceremony. It was also really important that the bride and groom were joined as two separate whole people,not there to complete each other but to enhance each other.” Jess also told me that the teepee from their ceremony now lives in their yard.
