In talking about the ceremony, Jess told me, “It was really important to us that we didn’t just follow normal tradition. We wanted to create new rituals and meaning through our ceremony. It was also really important that the bride and groom were joined as two separate whole people, not there to complete each other but to enhance each other.” Jess also told me that the teepee from their ceremony now lives in their yard.
