Studio SkM & Photography was founded by Shelby McCann in 2011. Shelby is a self taught photographer who can be found with her camera in one hand and her fly fishing rod in the other. Shelby is passionate about life...photography...and the outdoors. Studio SkM & Photography is based out of Missoula, MT but is always looking for another adventure and loves to travel!
1. What inspires you?
My inspirations come from feelings. I try my best to capture how people feel instead of how they should look. I appreciate all the passion, beauty, and love between two people, instead of posing them to what they “should” look like when taking their photos. People and the emotions they illustrate, inspire me.
2. What is your favorite place in or thing about Montana?
My favorite thing about Montana is the fact that not one place in Montana is beautiful in the same way. In eastern Montana you will find fiery sunrises, sunsets, and green fields peppered with cattle. However, in western Montana’s beauty is where you will find towering snow capped mountains and the gorgeous Flathead Lake sprinkled with sailboats during the summer. I love how one place can be so different and unique yet so picturesque and complete at once!
3. What is your best piece of advice for a Montana bride?
My best piece of advice for a Montana bride (or really any bride) is to not worry about having the most “beautiful” wedding, and don’t sweat the small stuff. You’re marrying your best friend, live in the moment. Try and remind yourself that your wedding will be over the next day, so focus on making memories that will last a lifetime.
